Today is three years since Grand Master Byrne passed away. While meditating this morning I found myself reflecting on the legacy he has left for us. Grand Master Byrne was a Tang Soo Do purist. He was a descendant of a long lineage which lives on today. He believed in Tang Soo Do as a traditional martial art and in the training developed and taught over the centuries to better hone our skills. He was open to seeing the strengths found in other fighting systems and to borrow from them to improve on the Tang Soo Do he practiced and taught to others. He firmly believed in developing mind, body, and spirit. As was taught to him by those that came before, he united the three to better himself and others. He never compromised on principles while having a compassion for those in need. I am grateful to have been his student. I am grateful to be in the position to carry on his legacy.
